Introduction to Australian Standard SDI Cable
SDI (Serial Digital Interface) cable is a professional-grade coaxial cable used primarily for transmitting uncompressed digital video signals in broadcast and production environments. In Australia, SDI cables must comply with specific standards to ensure safety, durability, and performance in both commercial and industrial applications.
Australian Standard SDI Cable refers to SDI cables manufactured or certified to meet the safety and quality requirements defined by Australian standards, such as AS/NZS 5000 or relevant communication cable regulations. These cables are designed to support high-definition (HD), 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI, and 12G-SDI signals over long distances with minimal signal loss.
Typically, Australian standard SDI cables are characterized by:
-
75-ohm impedance, ensuring compatibility with standard video equipment
-
High shielding effectiveness, protecting against electromagnetic interference (EMI)
-
Durable jacket materials, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use
-
Compliance with fire safety and RoHS environmental standards
Applications of SDI cables in Australia include television broadcasting, CCTV systems, live event video production, and professional AV installations. Choosing SDI cables that meet Australian standards guarantees stable signal transmission, longer service life, and adherence to local regulations.
